“When today’s mega group was trying to decide on a name, ..all you heard was: “No way man. Not a chance. Hate it. Bummer Dude. Surely you jest!  Tey had previously played under the nam: The Tradewinds, and later TW4. Their first record label at the time, Wooden Nickel Records, recommended the move to help the band sell more records.  The name STYX was agreed upon, ..only since IT was the only name, of hundreds of names they tossed around that NO ONE actually hated.

Released in December 1990, TODAY’S INSIDE THE MUSIC SONG was slowly scaling the charts. In January 1991, just prior to the United States' entry into the Gulf War, some DJs mixed the song with voice tracks of parents whose children were headed off to fight in the war.
