Omar the $9,500 cat runs away shortly after it was rescued.

This is a tale of typical feline gratitude. U.K. couple Railton and Dawn Elliott fell for Omar the homeless cat while on vacation in Egypt. With the country in the grip of revolution, the couple decided to rescue their new furry friend. After flying to England, Omar was in quarantine for six months and the Elliotts made the 150-mile return trip to visit him three times a week. The couple estimate the total cost of adopting Omar at more than $9,500, which they don't regret, but now Omar has run away from home. The well-travelled animal disappeared almost a year to the day after he left quarantine. Dawn said, "We're absolutely heartbroken." Here's hoping they find their fickle feline A-OK. SOURCE
