State College - The Central PA Civil War Round Table will meet on Tuesday evening, November 13, at the PA Military Museum auditorium, 602 Boalsburg Pike, in Boalsburg beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Matt Atkinson will speak on “The Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee.”
150 years ago, events in the United States were turbulent, uncertain, nationalistic, and full of terror. On April 6 -7, 1862, the Battle of Shiloh would become the bloodiest contest in American history up to that time as Union Generals Ulysses S. Grant and Don Carlos Buell beat back the surprise attack of the Confederate forces lead by Generals Albert Sydney Johnston and Pierre G. T. Beauregard.
Mr. Atkinson is a Ranger at Gettysburg National Military Park. He is a native Mississippian and alumnus of the University of Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
Mr. Atkinson has published a manuscript by a Confederate staff officer entitled “Drennan’s Letter” and currently resides in Gettysburg.
Anyone who is interested in the Civil War or joining the Central PA Civil War Round Table is invited to attend.
