Central PA Humane Society is Looking for Photogenic Pets

The Central Pennsylvania Humane Society is proud to announce the start of its annual Picture Perfect Pet Calendar Contest for 2014. The contest features portraits of locally owned pets.

The contest includes fundraising on behalf of the participants to have their pets featured in the calendar. Any pet owner is welcome to enter and can enter each year.

To participate, pet owners are encouraged to pick up information sheets and contest rules online at www.centralpahumane.org, at the Central PA Humane Society Shelter located at 1837 East Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602 or at the CPHS Thrift Shop at 3003 Walnut Avenue, Altoona. The contest requires entrants to submit good quality digital photos or to use a participating professional photographer.  If using a participating photographer, the participants will receive two photos for $10. The photos can then be used to assist the owners in raising money in support of their pet.

Thirteen pet owners who raise the most money will have their pet’s photo featured as a pet of the month in the calendar (we also include January of 2015).  Every entry that raises at least $50 will appear in the calendar. Through the years, participants have been very creative in finding ways to raise money in support of their pet.  The money raised from this contest is used to help the some 5,000 homeless animals that come through our shelter doors yearly.

The contest will begin March 1, 2013, and end July 1, 2013.  “We are excited to see the works of this talented group of professional photographers:  Moments Photography, Joe Padula of Stages Photography, Erro Gutshall of Dance of Light Photography, Sager Photo, The Film Center, Studio 36 Photography, Ashley Mastropasqua of Ash Brooks Photography and Tammy Wolfe of London Wolfe Photography. Their expertise in portraying pets is a huge benefit to everyone who participates,” said Jill Reigh, Director of Outreach and Marketing.

The calendar also showcases local business supporters. “We offer several affordable advertising opportunities in the calendar for interested businesses,” said Karen Smith,
