The public is invited to the Middle Pennsylvania District’s 33rd Annual Heritage Fair at Camp Blue Diamond. The fair will be held on Saturday, September 28th. Parking and admission are free. Shuttle buses are available from the parking lots. This annual family-friendly festival of faith, food and fun brings thousands together at Camp Blue Diamond, which is located seven miles northwest of Petersburg. Signs will be posted on Routes 22 and 305 leading to camp.
Friday evening, Sept. 27th, there will a family style meal available in the Main Lodge from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m., followed by a Joseph Helfrich Concert. The meal is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Concert is free.
Saturday, Sept. 28th, is Heritage Fair Day. Diner style breakfast from 6:30- 8:30 a.m. Food and craft booths open 9-2. Activities at Heritage Fair will include a ‘Dunk the Dunker’ tank, auction, roving musicians, Pennsylvania Woodmobile, 4-Square tournament, Demonstrations of Brethren Heritage and Dr. Jeff Bach, a leading historian on Brethren history. For children, there’s a large, special area with scarecrow making, puppets, face painting, a saw dust pile, a wildlife exhibit and a wide variety of crafts and games. Craft & Food Items will be available from about 30 church sponsored food booths. The making of many regional and traditional favorites will be demonstrated at the fair, including; cider, apple dumplings, ham pot pie, chicken corn soup, bean soup, apple butter, homemade desserts, kettle corn, apple butter pies and assorted desserts.
Originally organized in 1981, the fair has been held each year since, with the proceeds support the ministries of Middle PA District Church of the Brethren and Camp Blue Diamond. The fair will be held rain or shine.
