Prom Gown Distribution for Blair County High School Students

The Glass Slipper Project United Way of Blair County has scheduled two Boutique Days on Saturday February 22 and March 22 from Noon until 4 p.m. at United Way of Blair County’s office in the Eldorado Plaza at 5414 Sixth Avenue in Altoona.

The Glass Slipper Committee invites all Blair County students to visit the boutique and “shop” for a free gown, jewelry or accessories to make their prom an event that they will always remember. The new and gently worn gowns will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to any student enrolled in a Blair County High School. The project began five years ago as a way to help families stretch their budgets and to ensure that every student could enjoy their prom experience without regard to financial concerns.  The expense of purchasing a prom gown can add additional stress to a budget that may already be strained by the extra costs associated with graduation and future educational plans.

The Committee has been collecting new and gently used gowns since Thanksgiving.  Each year a wide variety of amazing gowns in a variety of sizes are collected.  If you would like to donate a gown or contribute to this effort, please contact United Way of Blair County at 944-0884.  Gowns may be dropped off at our office.
