Cheerleaders Charged in Fall
Eight Penn State students, including four cheerleaders and one dance team member, are facing charges for furnishing alcohol to minors. The chargers were filed yesterday after an investigation surrounding an October party that resulted in a Penn State cheerleader falling 39-feet out an apartment window. Police say the fall was accidental. Each of the charged student-athletes are no longer members of the respective teams and will face potential sanctions from the University’s Office of Student Conduct.
Health Care Increase
The 2013-2014 state budget will allocate $5-million to increase access to health care in rural and underserved areas. Governor Tom Corbett’s health proposal was announced yesterday in advance of Corbett’s budget address next week. The increase will fund community health centers, medical services and expand programs to attract and retain health care professionals.
