Former Penns Valley Athletic Director and Mountain League Treasurer Don Hosterman was arraigned yesterday on felony theft charges. According to a police criminal complaint, Hosterman is accused of writing 27 checks to himself from the Mountain League account totaling $22,800 when he was the league’s treasurer between 2010 and 2013. He was previously facing misdemeanor charges after he was accused of taking around $390 from game receipts at Penns Valley sporting events.  Hosterman claims he borrowed the money for farm expenses and put the money back into the league’s account. He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Boalsburg Memorial Day

Governor Corbett will attend the 150th Annual Memorial Day Service in Boalsburg on Monday. Corbett will speak at the ceremony that begins at 6pm.The Boalsburg Fire Company Carnival continues today and the annual parade will be tomorrow at 5pm. 

Pa Turnpike

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is expecting two million vehicles on the turnpike this Memorial Day weekend. Maintenance work on the turnpike is suspended until 6am on Tuesday to make all lanes in each direction available for traffic. 


Penn State’s Berkley Creamery has a new ice cream flavor. The flavor Russ “digs” Roseberry honors legendary Nittany Lion Women’s Volleyball coach Russ Rose. The new permanent selection at the Creamery is made with black raspberry puree, whole strawberries, strawberry sauce, red raspberry sauce and pure Wilbur’s chocolate in a vanilla base

Subway Thief

State College Police are investigating a burglary at the Subway on Pugh Street. According to police, the incident happened between 1 and 2 am on Saturday when a male entered the restaurant and helped himself to food. According to, police say the suspect took food and sauces with him when he left totaling around $100. Anyone with information is asked to contact State College Police. 

Road Work

State College Borough Public Works Crews will continue concrete curb and sidewalk repairs on the 700 block of Edgewood Circle today and Tuesday and Wednesday of next week between 7:30 and 5. Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the “Work Area.”
