SANDUSKY SCANDAL

JUDGE JOHN CLELAND YESTERDAY RELEASED 2 LETTERS TO THE PUBLIC…ONE WRITTEN BY JERRY SANDUSKY AND THE OTHER BY HIS WIFE, DOTTIE.
HER LETTER CALLS SANDUSKY A MAN OF HIGH MORALS AND A GOOD MAN AND FATHER. DOTTIE SAYS – QUOTE – “I NEVER SAW HIM DOING ANYTHING INAPPROPRIATE TO ANY CHILD, IF I HAD, AS A MOTHER AND GRANDMOTHER I WOULD HAVE TAKEN ACTION. JERRY IS NOT THE MONSTER EVERYONE IS MAKING HIM OUT TO BE.” SHE ALSO ACCUSES POLICE, THE LEGAL SYSTEM, AND THE MEDIA OF LYING AND SHE CALLS HER ADOPTED SON MATT A LIAR. HE HAD PLANNED TO TESTIFY AGAINST SANDUSKY AT HIS TRIAL, BUT NEVER DID. IN HIS LETTER, JERRY SANDUSKY PLEADS FOR LENIENCY, BUT NEVER APOLOGIZES TO THE VICTIMS. HE BLAMES LAWYERS, THE MEDIA AND PENN STATE FOR HIS LACK OF TIME TO PREPARE FOR TRIAL.

JERRY SANDUSKY WILL NO LONGER GET HIS 59-THOUSAND DOLLAR ANNUAL PENSION, BUT HE WILL GET TO KEEP MORE THAN 900-THOUSAND DOLLARS THAT HE’S ALREADY RECEIVED. THE STATE EMPLOYEES’ RETIREMENT SYSTEM SAYS THE STATE’S FORFEITURE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW THEM TO GO AFTER MONEY PAID BEFORE THE DATE OF A PLEA OR CONVICTION. SANDUSKY’S ATTORNEY PLANS TO APPEAL.

NO GUN AT ALTOONA JUNIOR HIGH

NO PLEA IN TODDLER’S DEATH

INVESTIGATORS SAY COLBY JOZEFCZYK APPEARED MALNOURISHED AND HAD BRUISES ON HIS HEAD AND ARMS WHEN HE DIED. ANDERSON-HOLMES WAIVED HIS PRELIMINARY HEARING YESTERDAY AND IS TO STAND TRIAL IN MARCH.

MISSING WOMAN FOUND DEAD

65 YEAR OLD MARY ELLEN HOUCK OF PORT MATILDA WENT MISSING WEDNESDAY MORNING AND SHE WAS FOUND DEAD IN HER CAR THURSDAY MORNING. STATE POLICE SAY THE VEHICLE WAS IN A WOODED AREA OUTSIDE OF PHILIPSBURG AND THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF FOUL PLAY. MORE INFORMATION SHOULD BE RELEASED LATER.

ALTOONA FIRE

ALTOONA FIRE CREWS WERE CALLED TO A HOUSE FIRE ON THE 900 BLOCK OF 2ND AVENUE AROUND 4:30 THIS MORNING. THEY HAD THE FLAMES UNDER CONTROL IN ABOUT HALF AN HOUR. NO WORD ON ANY INJURIES OR THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE.

CREDIT CARD SYSTEM HACKED

ALTOONA POLICE SAY 5 DIFFERENT BANKS RECENTLY CONTACTED THEM ABOUT BANK CARD IRREGULARITIES AND EACH CARD HAD BEEN USED TO PURCHASE PIZZA AT LITTLE CAESARS ON EAST CHESTNUT AVENUE. IT TURNS OUT THE CHARGE CARD SYSTEM USED BY THAT PARTICULAR PIZZA SHOP HAD BEEN HACKED AND THE SUSPECT IS RE-PRODUCING CARDS AND DISTRIBUTING THEM ACROSS THE COUNTRY. SOME OF THE CARDS HAVE EVEN BEEN USED IN AFRICA AND INDONESIA. APPROXIMATELY 250 CARDS HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. LITTLE CAESARS HAS INSTALLED A MORE SECURE SYSTEM, BUT POLIEC SAY ANY SYSTEM COULD BE HACKED AT ANY TIME.

NO CHARGES AGAINST ELDERLY DRIVER

AFTER REVIEWING SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND PHYSICAL EVIDENCE, RICHLAND TOWNSHIP POLICE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO FILE CHARGES AGAINST 78 YEAR OLD ELFRIEDE THOMAS OF JOHNSTOWN WHO SLAMMED HER S-U-V INTO A DOLLAR TREE STORE SEPTEMBER 6TH. 5 SISTERS WERE INSIDE AT THE TIME AND ONE OF THEM IS STILL HOSPITALIZED IN FAIR CONDITION. POLICE SAY THE VIDEO SHOWS THAT THOMAS GOT HUNG UP ON A CURB THEN GAVE THE VEHICLE MORE GAS. ONCE IT WENT FORWARD, SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS HITTING THE BRAKE, BUT IT WAS ACTUALLY THE GAS PEDAL. CIVIL SUITS ARE STILL POSSIBLE.

STOLEN VEHICLE HITS HOUSE

20 YEAR OLD JONATHAN SETTLE OF ALTOONA IS FACING CHARGES AFTER CRASHING AN S-U-V INTO A 21ST AVENUE HOUSE ABOUT 8:30 THURSDAY MORNING. POLICE SAY 2 PASSENGERS FLED THE SCENE ON FOOT. SETTLE WAS DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE AND DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO BE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. HE’S FREE ON 5-THOUSAND DOLLARS UNSECURED BAIL WITH A PRELIMINARY HEARING SCHEDULED WEDNESDAY.

ALTOONA COUPLE BUSTED FOR POT

ALTOONA POLICE SAY THEY ARRESTED 26 YEAR OLD JOHN WEIGNER AND 27 YEAR OLD RACHAEL YOUNG WEDNESDAY WHEN THEY ARRIVED AT THEIR HOME ON THE 100 BLOCK OF EAST SECOND AVENUE. COPS EXECUTED A SEARCH WARRANT AND FOUND ABOUT 2-THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF MARIJUANA …PARAPHERNALIA USED TO PACKAGE DRUGS…AND INFORMATION REGARDING CUSTOMERS. WEIGNER HAD A HANDGUN AND THERE WAS ALSO A PREVIOUS WARRANT ON DRUG DELIVERY CHARGES. HE AND YOUNG ARE NOW IN THE BLAIR COUNTY PRISON.
