MORE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST PRIEST

THE CAMBRIA COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SAYS 2 MORE MEN HAVE COME FORWARD AND ACCUSED FATHER GEORGE KOHARCHIK OF SEXUALLY ABUSING THEM WHEN THEY WERE BOYS IN THE 1980’S. LAST MONTH, THE ALTOONA/ JOHNSTOWN DIOCESE REMOVED KOHARCHIK AS PASTOR OF SAINT CATHERINE OF SIENA CHURCH IN MOUNT UNION, HUNTINGDON COUNTY. 2 OTHER ALLEGED VICTIMS TALKED TO AUTHORITIES IN AUGUST. AS OF NOW, NO CHARGES HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST KOHARCHIK, BUT AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY.

SANDUSKY SCANDAL

JERRY SANDUSKY’S ATTORNEY, JOE AMENDOLA, TELLS WJAC NEWS THAT SENTENCING COULD BE DELAYED AND SANDUSKY’S ADOPTED SON MATT COULD BE IN HOT WATER. MATT ORIGINALLY TOLD AUTHORITIES THAT HE WAS NEVER ABUSED BY HIS FATHER, BUT HE CHANGED HIS STORY DURING THE TRIAL. AMENDOLA SAYS NEW REVELATIONS HAVE SURFACED SINCE THEN AND IT TURNS OUT THAT MATT MAY HAVE COMMITTED CERTAIN ACTS WHICH DISAPPOINTED JERRY AND DOTTIE SANDUSKY. HE WOULD NOT GO INTO DETAILS. SANDUSKY REMAINS IN THE CENTRE COUNTY JAIL.

CAR SLAMS INTO STORE

5 PEOPLE WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL YESTERDAY …ONE WITH SERIOUS INJURIES…AFTER AN ELDELRY WOMAN’S S-U-V CRASHED INTO THE DOLLAR TREE STORE IN RICHLAND TOWNSHIP OUTSIDE OF JOHNSTOWN. POLICE SAY THE DRIVER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT WHEN HER VEHICLE GOT CAUGHT ON THE CURB. SHE HIT THE ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF THE BRAKE AND ENDED UP LODGED BETWEEN COUNTERS INSIDE THE STORE WITH HER FOOT STILL ON THE PEDAL. ONE VICTIM WAS TAKEN TO WINDBER HOSPITAL, AND 4 OTHERS TO JOHNSTOWN’S MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER. NO WORD IF ANY CHARGES WILL BE FILED.

PENNDOT EMPLOYEE INJURED

2 PEOPLE WERE TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO MOUNT NITTANY MEDICAL CENTER IN STATE COLLEGE LATE YESTERDAY MORNING AFTER A WRECK ON ROUTE 26 NEAR GRANDVIEW ROAD. AUTHORITIES SAY A STATION WAGON CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF A SLOW-MOVING PENNDOT LAWN MOWER TRACTOR AND ONE OF THE INJURED VICTIMS IS A PENNDOT EMPLOYEE. THE DRIVER OF THE STATION WAGON WAS ALSO HURT. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES.

SEX OFFENDER WILL BE EXTRADITED

AUTHORITIES SAY SEX OFFENDER AND CONVICTED BANK ROBBER DONALD GUTHRIE COULD BE RETURNED TO LYCOMING COUNTY AS SOON AS TODAY FOLLOWING HIS ARREST IN OGLE COUNTY ILLINOIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. POLICE HAD BEEN LOOKING FOR GUTHRIE AND 14-YEAR-OLD KARLEY BLETZ OF PUNXSUTAWNEY FOR A WEEK SINCE THEY RAN OFF TOGETHER. POLICE IN MOUNT MORRIS SPOTTED GUTHRIE NEAR A BANK WEARING A HOODED SWEATSHIRT AND PANTS ON A DAY WHEN IT WAS 90 DEGREES AUTHORITIES THINK GUTHRIE WAS PLANNING TO ROB THE BANK. KARLEY…WHO WAS IN FOSTER CARE BEFORE SHE DISAPPEARED…IS NOW BACK IN FOSTER CARE. HER HAIR WAS DYED FROM BLONDE TO DARK BROWN.

ALTOONA FIRES WERE ARSON

ALTOONA FIRE INVESTIGATOR MIKE TAFANO SAYS 2 RECENT FIRES WERE DELIBERATELY SET. IT APPEARS SOMEONE BROKE INTO A STORAGE BUILDING ON 18TH STREET SUNDAY NIGHT AND SET FIRE TO A CAMPER THAT WAS STORED INSIDE. AND THE FIRE THAT EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED 2 ADJOINING COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS EARLY TUESDAY WAS ALSO ARSON. THAT TIME, THE SUSPECT STARTED THE FIRE IN A NARROW SPACE BETWEEN THE BUILDINGS. TAFANO SAYS THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY CONNECTION BETWEEN THE 2 FIRES AT THIS TIME. ALTOONA POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING.

REWARD OFFERED IN JOHNSTOWN HOMICIDE

IN JULY, 2 BLACK MEN BEAT AND ROBBED VINCENT BLOOM INSIDE HIS LOWER YODER TOWNSHIP GARAGE…THEN SET HIM ON FIRE. THE 38 YEAR OLD BLOOM DIED A WEEK LATER AT A PITTSBURGH BURN CENTER. NOW, CAMBRIA COUNTY CRIMESTOPPERS IS OFFERING A 2-THOUSAND DOLLAR REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO ARRESTS. WEST HILLS POLICE SAY INFORMATION COMING IN TO AUTHORITIES HAS BEEN VERY SPARSE.

MURDER GETAWAY DRIVER SENTENCED TO PRISON

RONALD ZIEGEL JUNIOR OF FRIE¬DENS PLEADED GUILTY TO 3RD-DEGREE MURDER AND YESTERDAY A SOMERSET COUNTY JUDGE SENTENCED HIM TO 8 TO 30 YEARS IN PRISON. CALVIN MALLORY JUNIOR OF BROOKLYN NEW YORK IS SERVING A LIFE SENTENCE…AND TORIANO MCCRAY AND ROLAND WASHINGTON OF MICHIGAN ARE DOING TIME FOR THE 2009 SHOOTING DEATH OF FELLOW DRUG DEALER BRYANT ADDERLY IN BAKERSVILLE, SOMERSET COUNTY. ZIEGEL WAS THE DRIVER OF THE GETAWAY CAR.

BANK ROBBER ON THE LOOSE

A MAN CARRYING A HANDGUN AND WEARING A MASK ROBBED AMERISERV BANK IN LOWER YODER TOWNSHIP, CAMBRIA COUNTY, JUST BEFORE 6 LAST NIGHT. WEST HILLS REGIONAL POLICE SAY THE SUSPECT IS A WHITE MALE… ABOUT 5-FOOT-11…AND 180 POUNDS. HE HAD A TATTOO ON HIS LEFT CALF IN THE SHAPE OF FOUR TRIANGLES WITH THE POINTS TOUCHING. THE ROBBER JUMPED ONTO THE COUNTER, GRABBED AN UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT OF MONEY FROM A CASH DRAWER AND FLED THROUGH A REAR DOOR.
