PRIEST SUSPENDED

OFFICIALS WILL THE ALTOONA JOHNSTOWN DIOCESE SAY PRIEST MICHAEL LEWANDOWSKI HAS BEEN SUSPENDED FROM THE PUBLIC MINISTRY AFTER ALLEGATIONS OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT INVOLVING A MINOR BACK IN THE 1980S. FATHER LEWANDOWSKI HAS SERVED IN THE DIOCESE OF ALTOONA-JOHNSTOWN SINCE 1997 AS PASTOR OF SAINT ANNE PARISH IN DAVIDSVILLE. ANYONE WHO HAS CONCERNS ABOUT MISCONDUCT SHOULD REPORT IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE PROPER STATE OR LOCAL AUTHORITIES. THE DIOCESAN VICTIM’S ADVOCATE CAN BE CONTACTED AT (814) 695-55-79.

HEARING IN PATERNO LAWSUIT

TODAY IN CENTRE COUNTY COURT, A JUDGE WILL HEAR ORAL ARGUMENTS IN THE PATERNO FAMILY LAWSUIT AGAINST THE NCAA AND PENN STATE. THE HEARING IS FOCUSED ON A PROPOSED SUBPOENA THAT THE FAMILY WANTS TO ISSUE AGAINST BOTH PARTIES. THE FAMILY IS HOPING TO ACQUIRE DOCUMENTS FROM THE LOUIS FREEH INVESTIGATION REGARDING HOW THE UNIVERSITY HANDLED THE SANDUSKY SCANDAL…AND HOW THE NCAA REACHED ITS DECISION TO IMPOSE HARSH SANCTIONS ON PENN STATE. THE UNIVERSITY OBJECTS CALLING THE DEMANDS UNREALISTIC AND COSTLY.

DEADLY FIRE

3 PEOPLE DIED EARLY SUNDAY IN A HOUSE FIRE IN WHITE TOWNSHIP, INDIANA COUNTY. OFFICIALS SAY THE BLAZE BROKE OUT AROUND 3:30AM AT A MOBILE HOME AT 105 KEYSTONE DRIVE. THE VICTIMS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS 28 YEAR OLD SHAWN MARSH…27 YEAR OLD NICOLE NOVAK…AND 9 YEAR OLD GABBRIELLA NOVAK. 2 DOGS ALSO DIED. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.

RIVER SEARCH CONTINUES

RESCUE CREWS SPENT MOST OF SUNDAY LOOKING FOR A 19 YEAR OLD WHO MAY HAVE DROWNED SATURDAY IN THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER NEAR KARTHAUS, CLEARFIELD COUNTY. A CHURCH GROUP FROM EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA WAS OUT KAYAKING WHEN 2 TEENS RAN INTO SOME TROUBLE. THE WATER IS HIGH DUE TO RECENT RAIN AND THE CURRENT IS ALSO RUNNING PRETTY FAST. SEARCH CREWS WILL CONTINUE LOOKING.

MAN DIES IN ROOF COLLAPSE

CAMBRIA COUNTY CHIEF DEPUTY CORONER JEFFREY LEES SAYS 70 YEAR OLD JAMES LANG OF FALLENTIMBER IS THE MAN WHO WAS KILLED WHEN A ROOF COLLAPSED SATURDAY AFTERNOON. LANG AND ANOTHER PERSON WERE TEARING DOWN AN ABANDONED MOBILE HOME AT ZIMMIE'S CAMPGROUND WHEN THE ROOF COLLAPSED, KILLING LANG INSTANTLY.

POLICE SHOOTING JUSTIFIED

BLAIR COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY RICH CONSIGLIO AND STATE POLICE HAVE COMPLETED THEIR INVESTIGATION INTO THE WOUNDING OF A CIVILIAN APRIL 8TH AT 16-15 16TH STREET IN ALTOONA. THEY DETERMINED THE ALTOONA POLICE OFFICER WAS JUSTIFIED AND THE CIVILIAN’S OWN CONDUCT WAS THE MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. THE MAN WAS TRYING TO HARM HIMSELF WITH A KNIFE AND HE TURNED TOWARD THE RESPONDING OFFICERS. HE WAS SHOT IN THE RIGHT FOREARM, THEN STRUGGLED WITH COPS UNTIL HE WAS PEPPERSPRAYED. CONSIGLIO SAYS NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED AGAINST THE OFFICER…OR THE CIVILIAN AT THIS POINT.
