 BODY FOUND IN BLAIR COUNTY -

 POLICE IN BLAIR COUNTY ARE INVESTIGATING A DEAD BODY FOUND IN A FREEDOM TOWNSHIP HOME. WTAJ-TV REPORTS THAT POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE HOME ON EVERETT ROAD ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON. THE BLAIR COUNTY CORONERS OFFICE WAS ALSO ON THE SCENE, ALONG WITH THE STATE POLICE FORENSICS UNIT. NO OTHER INFORMATION HAS BEEN RELEASED.

 BEDFORD MAN DIES IN CRASH -

 A BEDFORD COUNTY MAN DIED EARLY SUNDAY MORNING IN A ONE-CAR CRASH ON ROUTE 31 NEAR MANNS CHOICE. STATE POLICE IN BEDFORD SAY 32-YEAR-OLD ARTHUR LEE HOGAMIER WAS TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN HIS S-U-V LEFT THE ROAD, BECAME AIRBORNE AND ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES. HOGAMIER WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE CRASH IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.

 STATE COLLEGE WOMAN INJURED -

 A STATE COLLEGE WOMAN WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED ON FRIDAY IN A 2-CAR CRASH IN PHILIPSBURG. POLICE SAY 30-YEAR-OLD KRISTINA McKENNA RAN INTO THE BACK OF A MINI-VAN THAT WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. THE FRONT OF McKENNA’S VEHICLE WAS PINNED UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF THE MINI-VAN. McKENNA, WHO WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT, WAS TRANSPORTED TO MOUNT NITTANY MEDICAL CENTER. A PASSENGER IN THE MINI-VAN WAS TAKEN TO ALTOONA REGIONAL FOR TREATMENT.

 FUNERAL TODAY FOR BLAIR COUNTY CRASH VICTIM -

 23-YEAR-OLD VICTORIA LINGENFELTER OF DUNCANSVILLE DIED IN A 3-CAR CRASH IN McKEE ON THURSDAY EVENING..A LITTLE MORE THAN A WEEK BEFORE HER WEDDING. LINGENFELTER’S FUNERAL WILL BE AT 10 THIS MORNING AT SAINT PATRICK’S IN NEWRY. THE CRASH IS STILL BEING INVESTIGATED.

SEXUAL ASSAULT CASES RISE AT PSU -

 SEXUAL ASSAULT OFFENSES INVOLVING PENN STATE STUDENTS GREW FROM 4 TO 24 INCIDENTS IN 2010 AND 2011.  THE INFORMATION WAS RELEASED BY PENN STATE, IN COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS. THE CENTRE DAILY TIMES REPORTS THAT PENN STATE POLICE ATTTRIBUTE THE RISE IN INCIDENTS TO SEVERAL FACTORS, INCLUDING BETTER AWARENESS. ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, THERE WERE ALSO MORE BURGLARY REPORTS IN 2011 THAN IN 2010.

SOMERSET COUNTY MEN ARRESTED -

Two Somerset County men have been arrested after police say they broke into a church.   Authorities say Ian Kobal and Woodrow Engel the Third face charges for breaking into the Somerset Church of the Brethren on Berlin Plank Road.  Police say the two men stole the church’s credit card and pin number and then took out $900 from an ATM machine.  Police say the two bought drugs, but they were able to trace them and arrest the pair. 

 D-U-I ARRESTS IN BLAIR COUNTY -

 THE BLAIR COUNTY D-U-I TASK FORCE MANNED A SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT ON FRIDAY NIGHT IN ALTOONA. THE CHECKPOINT WAS SET UP ON 7TH AVENUE IN THE CITY, NEAR ALTOONA JUNIOR HIGH.  THE TASK FORCE MADE 9 D-U-I ARRESTS..3 ARRESTS FOR UNDERAGE DRINKING..AND ONE FOR POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHANALIA. 36 CITATIONS WERE ISSUED FOR VARIOUS OTHER VIOLATIONS.

STATE COLLEGE TRAFFIC NOTE -

 EAST McCORMICK AVENUE IN STATE COLLEGE BOROUGH WILL BE REDUCED TO A SINGLE LANE BETWEEN 7:30 A.M. AND 4:30 P.M. TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT IS PERFORMING STREET MAINTENANCE AND FOLKS ARE ENCOURAGED TO USE ANOTHER ROUTE.
